In 1973 I moved to Roaring Fork, high in the Smokey Mountains about 18 miles outside of a town of 600. Roaring Fork was a small stream that originated in a spring on the property.  As it flowed down to the Meadow Fork of Spring Creek it went past four other handmade cabins.  My neighbor Hubert was in his 80s. Kept beer in a fridge in his barn (which had no electricity). The side of his barn was emblazoned with old license plates.   Life was simple.  We knew our neighbors and often on Sundays would have a gathering with music, song and food. Being so isolated, the language there was unique.  Once this was explained to me, “We’uns say Us’ens and You’ens say y’all”.  As I was welcomed there, I so love bringing the effervescence to you, our KSER family.

When I am not working on music, I enjoy getting together with friends and taking walks. Looking at people’s gardens, or at the sound with the salt breezes or up high crossing small glaciers in the summer sun.
