Jean Geiger

The Smithsonian Folk Festival in Washington DC in the early ’70s was a defining experience in Jean’s discovery of bluegrass, traditional Americana, and international folk music.

She began her DJ career hosting an early, renaissance, and baroque music show at a college radio station in Virginia. She hosted folk music shows on KBCS for 27 years and currently hosts the streaming show “Folk Mix” and is a substitute KSER host on “Folk Adventures.”

When not spinning the tunes, Jean plays guitar and banjo with a contra dance band and several Scandinavian bands and sings maritime music and sea chanteys in Seattle.
