David Haldeman
While his middle-school classmates were listening to songs with trendy one-word titles like “Loser,” “Today,” “Dreams,” and “Closer,” David was listening to tracks called things like “The Harp of the Ancient People with Songs of Venus and Space Children.” His lifelong pursuit of escapist synth bliss has led him down some beautiful and terrible pathways, and he's excited to present the fruits of his labor through Dead Electric.
David is a lapsed musician who writes under the name Basic Astronomy and has created soundtracks for major museum exhibits including Self-Reflected at Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute and the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Pacific Science Center. He's also a journalist whose work has appeared in various publications including the Utne Reader, City Arts, and the scientific journal Neurosurgery. He also served as the editor-in-chief of the humanities magazine Spark. In his spare time he's the marketing director at Seattle Children's Theatre, and he lives in Shoreline with his wife and two sons.
