Rootsbeat International

Douglass Colbert, aka Rootsbeat International, felt an immediate draw to reggae’s heartbeat when Bob Marley caught his ear in 1978. Since then he’s served as sound engineer for reggae bands throughout New England, hosted a weekly show on WOMR in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and after moving to Granite Falls in 1999 joined the team at KSER. Reggae Yard has blossomed into a diverse crew of hosts who alternate shows on Sundays evenings from 7:00-9:00pm.

When he’s not kicking back with a hotdog at Costco or a beer at an Aquasox game, he actually lives pretty healthy, growing his own veggies and maintaining his hand-built home. Or he’s leaving a message with one of his local representatives—because Douglass believes that like public radio, democracy needs our voices.
